The simple ‘barrier’ health protection counters

Although Metal Quartz is the specialist in fine high-security metalwork, we also offer ‘simple counters‘ for companies without specific high security requirements. On the other hand, this type of counter does provide effective protection against micro-droplets, contact transmission and airborne transmission via aerosols.

The size and design of the counters are adaptable so that we can customise them as much as possible to the preferences and needs of our clients. However, you should bear in mind that the minimum configuration of a counter will always include a raised pane and glass screen:

As already mentioned the dimensions of the panes and the counters are entirely adaptable. It is also possible to mix and match several of our ‘counters’ to divide a room in two or to arrange it according to specific needs.

There is also a specific configuration for all types of facade counters such as:

• reception areas,
• night counters,
• guard houses,
• etc.

These models may be designed with anti-burglary resistance and more specifically with bulletproof resistance up to level FB7, the highest level of resistance.

They may also be designed to facilitate safe transfer of any kind of document: from letters to parcels. Finally, our range also includes an interphone system that can be built into our counters.
These front counters offer users maximum protection against physical attacks and other elements (wind, dust and rain).

Adjustable ledge

The ledge can be adapted for easy direct access. For example, the height of the ledge can be adjusted to allow easier access for persons with reduced mobility.

Recommended counter ledge height:

• For persons with reduced mobility: 740 mm to 790 mm
• For other persons who are standing: 1060 mm to 1100 mm

The top finish may be done in different materials to give your reception space a certain aesthetic appeal that corresponds with your company’s image. This worktop can also be produced with a writing desk, or even a bag holder, so that your clients enjoy maximum comfort.

Document drum

Many companies find it important that the counter has a built-in document delivery drum. Depending on its dimensions it will allow the exchange of more or less sizeable documents. Just like the rest of the counter, the document drum may be designed with specific characteristics: anti-burglary (up to the highest level: CR5) and bulletproof (up to the highest resistance level: FB7).

Coin drawers

Developments in the methods of payment may perhaps have changed the way we use cash, but there are still many situations where banknote and coin drawers are critical, since they allow the transfer not only of notes and coins from a protected zone to a zone for public use, but also of tickets, securities and small-format documents such as letters. These can be installed with built-in interphone systems to ensure optimum communication or, simply, through the pane zone. Just like the other modular elements, they may be designed to offer protection against theft or bulletproof protection up to level FB7.

Parcel passes

Other companies consider it crucial to be able to transfer bulkier items using a parcel-pass from a protected zone to an unprotected zone. Installed either in the counter or in the frontage, they do not only offer protection against burglary but are also bulletproof up to protection level FB7.

Talk-thrus and interphones

Although the counters are useful for the best possible protection of the staff they look like a barrier between your teams and your clients. To make the barrier as unobtrusive as possible it is important to guarantee that conversations may be held in real acoustic comfort and, therefore, to provide a talk-thru for your window!

There are two options:

• A mechanical sound communication system making conversations audible by mechanical means whilst avoiding the transmission of micro-droplets and thereby reducing the risk of infection.
• An interphone system with microphone and loudspeaker that can either be placed on the counter or completely built in.
