In secure environments such as police cells, waiting areas or detention infrastructure, continuous observation remains a critical challenge. A detainee may be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, suddenly lose consciousness, experience medical distress, become aggressive or show signs of self-harm risk. In such situations, every minute matters.
New technology now makes it possible to analyse vital signs such as breathing, heart rate and other physiological indicators through image analysis — without physical contact or wearable equipment.
We are proud to support DAVO — the company behind Virtual Vital Signs — in this development. Together, we are exploring how such innovations can contribute to new solutions for the safety and wellbeing of both detainees and staff within secure infrastructures.
The objective is to assess how contactless monitoring may in the future be integrated into solutions for police stations, detention areas, prisons and other controlled environments, where physical protection and intelligent observation increasingly complement each other.
This technology will be presented during INFOPOL | XPO112 at the DAVO Group stand, booth 347, at Kortrijk Xpofrom 28 to 30 April 2026.
Metal Quartz will also be present to discuss possible applications in secure infrastructure.
